It was lovely to see that on a recent visit to Bristol the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited a charity close to Sounds Commercial’s heart, Empire Fighting Chance.
Sounds Commercial was initially approached by the charity Empire Fighting Chance to supply AV support for a charity fundraising quiz night, an event which was compered by British boxer John Conteh. We decided to support this charity over the long term because we were truly impressed with how the leaders were helping disadvantaged young people to achieve a better future.
Empire Fighting Chance’s mission is to “produce champions in life who can fulfil their broader potential by staying clear of crime and violence, raise aspiration, make better and informed life choices; feel self-confident and progress in education and employment”. This is achieved through the discipline of non- combat boxing and personal support to help achieve personal potential.
We were subsequently contacted to thank us for our support and to let us know we have been awarded the certificate of “Honorary Business Champion” for our work with the charity.
We are very happy supporting the charity going forward and were delighted to attend a further charity event, “A Year Outdoors”. Early in 2017, ten reclaimed doors were hung across the streets of Bristol. In plain sight, some were neglected, others were integrated into graffiti artworks and some simply left to the elements. After 12 months they were collected back in, and attention from well-known artists from across the globe has helped breathe new life into the doors.
The doors are now going on tour across the UK before being auctioned off in December 2019. 100% of profits from this auction will go to organisations helping people in critical need, and Empire Fighting Chance has been chosen as one of the charities to benefit.
